Yes, it's that easy! I pretty much slapped two different colors on the repurposed coffee table and it turned out so fun!
I bought the buffet table at a yard sale for $20 and did two colors as well. I love the tropical color scheme; it's so fresh and happy! I re-sold both of these pieces and then realized what a great hobby this would make. I now tend to look like the Beverly Hillbillies on Saturday mornings :-)
